Frequently Asked Questions

How long has Positiv-A-Tee Screenprints been in business?

We are family owned and operated and have been screen printing for over 15+ years.

What are your hours?

We open our doors at 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., M-F.  We are closed on the weekends.

Can I come by your shop?

Feel free to stop by during regular business hours.  We ask that you call or text before to make sure someone is there to greet you.  Sometimes we run out for errands. 

How do I get my merchandise?

We will let you know when your job is ready for pickup and schedule a time for you to come by the shop.

 

I have shirts that I would like you to print on.  Can you use those?

It is generally not recommended.  We need to make sure they are brand new 100% cotton, not washed, and oil/dirt free.  Let’s talk about it.

What kind of t-shirts do you use?

We try to stick with 100% cotton, Gildan t-shirts.  We have found that these are durable and have a great feel to them.  If you prefer another style or brand, we can do that.  If a brand is not available, we will do our best to substitute with another as close as possible.

What is the minimum quantity of shirts that you will screen print?

6 (1 color ink) or 12 (2-6 colors)

Why?  I only need 5.

It takes a lot of time, preparation and materials to set up a screen(s).  Since time is money, setting up a screen for fewer than 6 shirts, it’s just not cost effective for us or you.  If less than the minimum is required, retail prices may apply.  Some special requests may be taken into consideration but not all the time.

Can I get a price quote?

Yes, we can provide a price quote for you to approve before any work is done.

Do all shirts cost the same?

No.  We base our costs on standard cut 100% cotton t-shirts.  Additional charges may apply for women’s cut, special fabrics, special inks, more than one printing location of artwork, and sizes over XL.  Children sizes in your order may require additional screen costs.  The reason for this is because the artwork needs to be smaller and requires additional screens.

Why do you charge more for multiple print locations on the same product?

The reason for this is that for each print location, we have to setup our presses with new screens and print the additional design as if it were a brand new project.

Can I get/use a variety of different style/color shirts to make up the minimum 12?

Yes, you can.  As long as the ink color and the image is the same size on all shirts.  A $5 color change fee may apply if needed to accommodate fabric contrasts. 

What other items can you print on?

We can do t-shirts, short or long sleeve, hoodies, sweatshirts, bags, totes, koozies, and much more.  Feel free to visit the Portfolio tab.

Do I have to pay setup fees?

Yes.  It takes time to create artwork, set up each screen/color, and all that other fun stuff that it takes to complete your order.  Setup fees are $10 per screen/color.  Don’t be fooled by online sites that say no “setup charges”.  That $2.99 per shirt you ordered will end up costing you more in the end.

Can I re-order more shirts at a later date?

Yes, as long as you use the same size artwork, there is only a small re-order fee of $5 per location.  

Do I have to pay tax?

If you are in Texas, yes.  We have to charge sales tax at 8.25%.  Exceptions are if you are tax-exempt or a nonprofit organization.  If so, be ready to provide your tax-exempt form.

  

What is your turn-around time?

For shirts, it is generally 5-7 business days from finalization of quantities and artwork approvals.  It could be sooner, it may be longer depending on how many jobs are in front of yours.  We will keep you posted so that you know what to expect.  It’s best not to wait until the last minute and if you need them tomorrow or the next day . . . probably not going to happen.

Why can’t you use the artwork I pulled off the internet?

Our software needs to be able to color separate the artwork.  A simple hand drawing or artwork from the internet emailed to us does not work and must be converted which takes time.  Artwork fees may apply.

I don’t have artwork.  Can you help me?

In most cases, yes, for a fee.  We will work with you and pull some ideas together.  If you find something online we will do our best to replicate or come very close to your idea.

What if I want a custom ink color?

We use standard ink colors available to us,  If you would like to use a custom made color(s), additional fees may apply for color matching.  The ink will be put on the shelf and marked for your use only on future projects.

Why can’t you print my photo on a shirt?

That would require a full color process, which we currently do not have the equipment to handle.

How many colors can you print?

We currently print up to 6 spot colors.

What are spot colors?

When you see text or a picture with one color, that is a spot color.  If you see a color that fades from darker to a lighter color, that is full color process.

What is the largest my image can be on a shirt?

12”w x 12”h

Do you embroider?

Yes we do.  Some set up and a one-time digitizing fee of $25 may apply for logos up to 4”.  A 6 piece minimum is required and prices are based on the quantity of pieces, number of stitches needed, and number of thread colors.  Pricing does not include apparel cost.

Do you require payment up front?

If we know you and we have worked together in the past, no.  Some larger orders, though, may require a deposit to cover product & production costs with the balance due when the job is completed.  You can count on us; just ask any one of our clients!  Feel free to ask for references.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We currently accept cash or check.
